PROPOSED RULE MAKING ACTIVITY

An emergency rule making activity regarding the Motor Vehicle Insurance Reparations Act was published in the November 8, 2000 NYS Register.  The purpose is to implement art. 51 of the Insurance Law known as the Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance Reparations Act, popularly known as the No-Fault Law.  This amendment brings the new Part 65 into conformance with the previous Part 65 with respect to the filing of no-fault arbitration claims with the American Arbitration Association.

This notice is intended to serve as a notice of emergency adoption.  This agency intends to adopt this emergency rule as a permanent rule and will publish a notice of proposed rule making in the State Register at some future date.  The emergency rule will expire January 16, 2001.  Text and any required statements and analyses may be obtained from: Patricia Mann, Insurance Department, 25 Beaver Street, New York, NY 10004, (212) 480-5587.
