S.6800 Skelos / A.9787 Nolan (Signed Chapter 510) Amends the workers’ compensation law in relation to the collection of contributions to the special disability fund and the administrative expenses of the workers’ compensation board. Changes the manner in which payments to the following funds are collected: Fund for Concurrent Employment, Reopened Case Fund, Aggregate Trust Fund, Non-Resident Compensation Fund, Uninsured Rehabilitation Fund, Special Disability Fund. Assessments on insurance carriers made would henceforth be based upon premiums written, rather than an insurer’s paid losses in the preceding calendar year. This act shall take effect on the first day of January next succeeding the date on which it shall have become law (January 1, 2001). This bill was an initiative by NYIA. S.6734 Seward / A.10030 Grannis (Vetoed Memo 45) Makes technical corrections to permit product and system group insurance policies to be placed through duly licensed New York Excess Line Brokers. The bill would provide a notice to the consumer when product or system group insurance is written through excess line brokers. |
