Klein (MS) – COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW BILL) Makes major
modifications to provisions of law providing rental vehicle protection.
Removes the current $100 cap on driver liability for loss or damage
to a rental vehicle, allowing the vehicle rental company to hold
the renter or an authorized driver responsible for the actual damage
to or loss of a rental vehicle under specified conditions. Also
allows rental vehicle companies to offer renters "optional
vehicle protection" to insure against loss or damage to the
rental vehicle for which the renter would otherwise be responsible.
Effective date is 90 days after signed into law or February 24,
2003.

JOHNSON – GRADUATED LICENSING PROGRAM Establishes
a class DJ and MJ license and a limited class DJ and MJ license
as part of the graduated license program. Requires young novice
drivers to complete a series of experience and education requirements
before they obtain full driving privileges.
